Characteristics of the ZF Global DESADV The ZF Global DESADV is based on the VDA-recommendation VDA 4987. The ZF Global DESADV is defined for the Advanced Shipping Note (ASN), transport-data and external service-provider processes. The ZF Global DESADV is valid for all locations and divisions of ZF Friedrichshafen AG. Detailed notes on the use of the Global DESADV and Package Examples are described in the VDA recommendation "VDA 4987 Despatch Advice with EDI". Download via https://www.vda.de/ The ZF Global DESADV has some differences to the VDA-recommendation VDA 4987. The essential differences are described here. 1.1. DESADV – Shipment/Delivery Note With a DESADV a complete shipment is adviced by the supplier. A DESADV (a shipment) can contain one or more delivery notes. A delivery note can contain several items. If multiple delivery notes are need to be notified per one DESADV, this must be agreed with the corresponding ZF plant. The delivery note number is specified in RFF+AAU at item level. A delivery note level as in VDA4913 does not exist in ZF Global DESADV. 1.2. Dispatch date, delivery date The dispatch date in DTM+11 at header level is required. The segments DTM+2 (expected arrival date) or DTM+132 (estimated arrival date) are also required. If a dispatch date (DTM+10) was specified in the corresponding delivery call -off, an expected arrival date DTM+132 with the estimated arrival date must still be sent, taking the transportation time into account. ----------------Page (2) Break---------------- ZF Global DESADV Page 4 of 110 ZF Friedrichshafen AG Version: ZF 1.3.9 - VDA 1.3 1.3. Conveyance reference number (CRN) The Conveyance reference number (CRN) is the reference -no. of the shipment (the DESADV). It is mandatory to specify in SG1/RFF+CRN. 1.4. Seller / Supplier (NAD+SE) The segment NAD+SE is mandatory and must be filled with the supplier number, which is given by ZF. 1.5. Measurement unit The measurement units are required for all QTY-segments. 1.6. Country of origin The country of origin is mandatory to specify in SG17/ALI. 1.7. Delivery note item The delivery note item is mandatory to specify in RFF+AAU. 1.8. Handling units / Packages A delivery note can contain a maximum of 999 packages (handling units). This means that the total number of all package numbers of inner and outer packages on a delivery note must not exceed 999. 1.10. Consolidation of handling units This is an important remark to a feature of the VDA 4987 concerning the message structure for grouping inner packing details in SG10. When handling units are similar, it is allowed to combine them. The definition of similarity of packing units is described in the original VDA recommendation, VDA 4987, SG10 / CPS: If different packaging materials have the same properties (same packaging type, same packaging aids (number and type), same quantity per package etc.) they can be combined into one packaging group. 1.11. Mixed handling units One or more combined (consolidated) handling units of the same type may have only one delivery note number. This also is required for mixed packaging. For Mixed handling units, exactly only one delivery note number per handling unit is permitted. The delivery note has then several items accordingly. 1.12. Transport order and overseas container reference The 13-digit transport order number, which is generated by SupplyOn during Forwarder Pickup Advice (FPA) creation as a unique transport reference, should be provided in the DESADV if known, so that the receiving plant can establish a relationship between the delivery and the transport order. See segment group 1, RFF+AHI. As well, the container ID should be specified for overseas shipments. In standard processes (not JIS), all items of the shipment can be listed in one delivery note. Ideal situation: shipment = DESADV = delivery note (1:1:1) Also possible: shipment = DESADV = multiple delivery notes (1:1:n). In this case, a delivery note must have only one item. The delivery note number must be entered at item level. VDA 4913 includes an additional "delivery note" level.
